Re-Animator Headcannons

  • Herbert’s morbid doodling didn’t start until he and Dan began arguing. He doesn’t know how to express feelings correctly in front of Dan, so when he’s alone it’s the only thing he knows how to do to express and let go of them. 
  • Dan is ashamed of his feelings for Herbert, so he goes to great lengths to have a healthy social life outside of his and Herbert’s relationship. 
  • Herbert is afraid of being rejected just as much as Dan is. 
  • Both have serious abandonment issues. 
  • Herbert is terrified of being hit by Dan. He knows he’s physically not strong enough to defend himself. 
  • Dan strives for normalcy in every element of his life.
  • Meg has had to take care of everything at home since her mother died, and resents not ever having a lot of fun early on in life. So now that she’s old enough, she started going out with Dan because she loves the thrill of doing the normal college-girl thing to do. Also their love wasreal But by the time Herbert came along that relationship had pretty much run it’s course. 
  • Dan is the only friend Herbert has ever had, and doesn’t know quite how a close friendship -or relationships in general- work. Most of the time when he or Dan screws up he has a hard time figuring out how to fix it. 
  • Dan secretly gets off on Herbert’s dependence on him.
  • Herbert gets off on Dan’s dependence on him. 
  • They both know how fucked up their relationship is. 
  • Herbert hates being touched by anyone except Dan. He doesn’t even really like being touched by him either. 
  • Oh yeah, and Herbert and Dan both gayer than springtime (if that wasn’t obvious enough).
